I shoot family sessions with a documentary-style flair. instead of sitting portraits of kids pushing out a smile at me, I grab those in between moments when they're full of belly laughs or booping your nose.

once we narrow down location + month - you'll receive a session agreement and retainer invoice to secure your spot. both are required before moving forward. remaining balance is due BEFORE your session starts.
step 03 - styling + Questionnaire
about 6 weeks before your session styling information and a session questionnaire will go out.
styling info - goes over optimal colors that won't clash, coordinating family members, items to avoid, and more.
questionnaire - helps me to get to know your family quirks, things you love, and anything important I need to know to help your session run smoothly.
step 04 - Session day!
location and day-of details arrive in your inbox a few days before the day! all you need to know, where we'll meet, and tips/tricks for kiddos.

we all feel the stress of family photos - getting everyone dressed, to location on time, hoping everyone including dad is in a good mood, weather cooperates.... I totally get it. but what if we embraced whatever the day brought and documented the REAL you. not the forced smiles that are almost always not genuine. your family will eventually grow up and those little funny quirks + faces will be gone.
after years of photographing families - I've come to realize that those little moments are often missed while trying to get kids to form into the photo vision we want them to be. I've watched their little spirit loose that excitement for photos and retreat into a shell.
how can we make it better - let's make it fun for them. AND YOU. what if we went apple picking and documented the fun of filling apple bags and biting into a freshly picked apple, find a field at sunset to run around and explore. OR, let them play in their backyard and end the night cozying up to you with a bonfire.
pair a location + activity idea - beach picnic while the kids swim, evening at the carnival, explore the storefronts downtown, grab a pizza and hang out in eastern market, family trip to your fav ice cream shop, hang out around dad's fav old pickup truck, walk your favorite trail, explore the family hobby farm, or explore tall fields at sunset.

documentary-style newborn photos in metro detroit
my heart is set on documenting your new family just as you are - the new family together, mom + baby, dad + baby, baby alone, siblings with their new baby. we do all of the things! my approach is more hands off meaning baby stays with you or we grab close ups and detail shots while they're laying down.
there is no posing baby in baskets. individual shots of baby are done candidly while holding or laying down.
studio sessions: take place at my studio loft in downtown Detroit right near the riverwalk.
home sessions: we can shoot throughout your home - nursery, master bedroom, kitchen, front porch, backyard, main living space. where ever the best lighting is!
WHEN: 1 week - 1 month old! looking to document the tiny peach fuzz and wrinkly hands, let's schedule for 7-10 days post delivery. need more time to settle in, we have up to a month.

extended family photos in metro detroit
looking to capture the entire family - grandparents and all? extended family sessions are a bit more posed and direct by me. we grab all the combinations of photos we can. grandparents + grandkids, parent siblings, just the grandkids, individual families, girls + boys, and whatever else we can do! each client will receive a questionnaire that will go over family members and any specific requests.
sessions are scheduled with a 2nd date in mind in case of rain.
